Shanghai has for me the best skyline in the world! It’s a master piece of modern architecture and at night just stunning with all the lights on the tall buildings. You can spend hours or even days just strolling around the city and marvel at the modern buildings. On the other hand you can enjoy as well the historic parts and temples. There are so many ultimate things to do in Shanghai.
I recommend to stay 4 days in Shanghai.
Ultimate things to do in Shanghai

- Shanghai Tower
- Shanghai World Financial Center
- Jin Mao Tower
- Nanjing Road

Pudong-Promenade – The Bund – Enjoy the skyline and buildings
From “the Bund” you have the best view to the skyline while you walk along the Pudong promenade at the river.
You will see the famous Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower (632 meters), Shanghai World Financial Center (492 meters) or the Jin Mao Tower.
Shanghai from above – Observation deck World Financial Center
I recommend to go up the Shanghai World Financial Center to the observation deck (or Skywalk) from where you have an amazing view over the city and the other tall buildings (if there is not too much smog).
Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road is the main shopping street of Shanghai and is one of the world’s busiest shopping street. Even if you are not going to buy anything, it’s a must do walk along East Nanjing Road.
Yuyuan Garden and Jade Buddha Temple
When you have enough from all the shops, head to the Yuyuan Garden and the Jade Buddha Temple for some cultural experience. Nice ancient places to find some piece in this bustling city.
